The MEST Universe Trap

The front cover of the LRH book Fundamentals of Thought used to say -

“Scientology is here to rescue you.

In the book 8-8008 Ron differentiated between the terms “MEST” and “MEST universe”. The term MEST by itself, refers to the physical universe as a whole, and stands for matter, energy, space and time. The term MEST with a designation word after it, refers to the universe of another - in this case the “universe of another” is a smaller enclosed area within MEST (physical universe) - called the “MEST universe”.

  Quote from page 13 of the LRH book 8-8008 -

“MEST stands for matter, energy, space, and time, and is a composite of the first letter of each. The word MEST appearing all by itself denotes the physical universe. MEST with a designation word after it designates another’s universe.”The geographical area referred to as the “MEST universe” is both defined and enclosed by a complex angular energy field generated from specific points outside the “MEST universe”.

  Quote from page 93 of the LRH book 8-8008 -

“This universe is a major expanding trap of finite dimensions and rather idiotic simplicity.”

“Well, I have been to heaven … It was complete with gates, angels and plaster saints - and electronic implantation equipment.”

“Thetans live on some planets. They consider these to be “outside of the MEST universe” by which they mean outside areas inhabited by the composite beings, the “races” which use electronics and need bodies.”

  LRH lecture 4 March 1952 Discovery of Facsimile One -

“Well, I studied and I thought and I studied and I thought and figured and figured and … You know, the first thing I knew, I saw the machine dive on “before time.” It says, “before time.” “Has anything ever happened before time!” - wondering whether or not somebody might not be pre-aberrated. And the machine just started going crazy. “Before time.”

“Did something happen before time! Did somebody aberrate us before time!” And all of a sudden you get this horrible picture, this horrible idea of maybe this is hell and once we lived in heaven, and somebody came along and picked us up and said, “Mmm. You’re a bad ‘un!” took us before a tribunal or a council and then dumped us on the chute and we arrived here on Earth. Crash.”

  LRH lecture 6 November 1952 Methods of Research - The Thetan As An Energy Unit -

“Well, that’s kind of like the MEST universe. The guy who thought this one up, thought this one up this wise: “Let’s see, I can’t think up anything but this one thing - that’s force. Force. I’ve got a pretty good idea that there are other universes around, and if this force suddenly goes through my time and I keep changing the time of the force, it’ll pick up all these other universes and blow these good ideas into this universe, because every time this force connects with any universe, of course it’ll explode it or something.” He’d think of this one trick, this one stupid trick that anybody could think of, you see. Force. That’s the easy one. That’s the easiest idea to think of. “

“And all of a sudden, one day, you were sitting there in your own universe and it went kapow! Gee, it’d startle you. And it would probably contain sound and electrical explosion.

People are very troubled about sound - much more troubled than they are about light. That tells them they couldn’t handle sound. So maybe they held on to this and they decided they’d study what this blast was. And they might be holding on to it ever since. They might be trying to protect their own universe from the blast. The last fleeting moment of “It was all theirs,” and they never got the moment of transition. And then they thought the blast had changed their universe around; they were in another universe.”

 
LRH lecture 16 April 1952 How To Audit a Theta Line, Part II -

“And some genius somewhere along the line picked up a wave that was very close to the wavelength of one over infinity. And it’s so close to theta that it’ll affect theta; it’s the same wavelength as emotion. Emotion is one of those very, very short wavelengths. It’ll affect a facsimile or a theta body or the MEST universe, so it makes a crossroads.

If you had a wave - electronic wave - in that area or part of the band, all you would have to do would be to shove it at a theta body and you would get some sort of a result resembling unconsciousness, or the theta body could not get away or something of the sort. In other words, there’s a part of a band, such as emotion - there’s an electronic approximation of it possible - by which a theta body could be trapped. This is initially how it began to happen.”

“Well, the MEST people, more or less, they want to put out this big prize. And so they give you a prize for knowing. Well, up to that point, you really know - you know pretty well. And then one of its versions is to throw a dome over the person, over the theta person - bam! - hold him completely motionless with fields so that he has an utter timelessness, so that he’s suddenly and momentarily a zero, and then just throw him down a chute which passes him across fields - magnetic fields - one right after the other, which install wavelengths which are very close to one-over-infinity, with - which approximate our Tone Scale from 2.0 down.”

“If they sassed a guard or something like that, they had a part of them or had a field that matched them back in the guardhouse, and all you had to do was turn a switch and this fellow was in bad shape right away. At a vast distance, he was in bad shape. How do you like this electronically? Boy, could you sell this to the federal government!”

“Now, the entrance point to this universe: Now, that comes under classified information and is in actual fact a misnomer. Many times on the track one has been told that he has just entered this universe. It’s a big swindle.”

The history of this universe, of this galaxy, and of this planet - is the story of a theta trap and implanting. The modern-day use of electronics to implant and imprison “unwanted” thetans as a “solution” is nothing new. On the contrary, this universe (which has been referred to as “Hell”) - was formed on that very concept.

First, a co-existing static created the physical universe (MEST). See The Factors in the LRH book 8-8008 and Scientology axioms 1,2,3 and 25. The game of life was then being played by various thetans in the physical universe (MEST).

While playing the game of life in the physical universe, a certain thetan and his assistants wanted to rid themselves of other thetans who they could not police. Thus they had a problem to solve. Their solution was to construct a prison - an electromagnetic “universe” within the physical universe.

The outer pattern of this electromagnetic-wave trap is a 7-pointed “star”, the center of which forms a 3-dimensional ellipsoid. The 7 points are electromagnetic-wave emanation points that act to create the boundaries of the prison.

The thetans who constructed this electronic prison within the physical universe bestowed upon themselves the title of “Gods”. One of them likes to think of himself as “The Great Architect of the Universe”. The lesser “Gods” often like to portray themselves as “angels” and defenders of the gates to “Heaven”, otherwise known as “Gatekeepers”. The electromagnetic-wave prison or trap constructed by “God” and his assistants has often been referred to as “Hell”. The area of the physical universe outside of “Hell” has often been referred to as “Heaven”.

It has been said that there is an inscription on the heaven side of the 7th Gate of Hell, which reads something like the famous quote “Abandon hope all ye who enter here”.

The 7 electronic emanation points that create Hell also function as entrance/exit points for travel between Heaven and Hell. You could also call these “Stargates”. Each Gate is under the control of a “Gatekeeper”.

A Gatekeeper has many responsibilities, one of which is the keeping of records of all that go in or out of Hell. In fact, this particular responsibility relates to one of the other titles a Gatekeeper has - “The Keeper of the Book of Life”. Other titles for a Gatekeeeper are “Guardian of the Portal” or “Guardian of the Gate”.

The “Book of Life” is essentially a huge running record that tracks in great detail the history, from the “beginning” of this “universe” (Hell) to present time. The record is essentially a history of what thetans are where, and what they are doing/have done. The Gatekeepers have assistants or “angels”, and together they monitor activities in “Hell” and enter records into the “Book of Life”.

Gatekeepers also have the duty of only allowing those authorized to pass through the Stargates between Heaven and Hell. In this capacity, they are sentries.

The thetans in Heaven whom “God” judges and sentences to Hell, are first implanted to give them amnesia and false data and false purposes. They are then “cast down” or as Ron says: sent “down the chute”.

LRH lecture 1 December 1952 PDC 1 Opening What Is To Be Done On Course -

“The one thing you mustn’t do in the MEST universe is know. You must agree, not know. And if you agree enough, it seems to say, if you just agree enough, why, you’ll just get along better and better and better, and sure enough you apparently do - up to a certain point. And then it’s a case of “Agree or else.” And then it’s the case of “You will agree. We don’t care if you’re agreeing. We’re just going to go right on punishing you. And sure, you’re willing to do all this, we don’t care if you’re willing or not. We’ll just go on punishing you.”“

“Of course she’d destroy God. So would anybody when he comes up tone scale a little bit. Because stop and think for a moment, what passed for God for the MEST universe is not the goddest God there is by an awful long ways. And that whoever made that MEST universe - this MEST universe - whoever made this thing was a usurper of one’s own universe. And this has been sold to the individual, and it has sold the individual out of his ability to make a universe or even to handle this one. That is a very healthy reaction from a preclear. Kill God? Let me at him!” Tick-tick-tick! Now, it tells you something about that. All right.”

Some thetans in Hell then dramatize what was done to them and constantly repeat this “solution”. For example, a civilization near the center of this Galaxy used a planet called Marcab as a dumping ground and prison to rid itself of thetans it could not police. These were first implanted and then dumped on Marcab.

“You know the galaxy is a big wheel and the galaxy has a hub and it has a rim and we are very close to the rim.”

“It’s very close, and people wishing to get rid of troublesome characters, captives, anybody you can think of…”

“And they take - use it as a dumping ground for the ice cube and for other things: unwanted beings, unwanted people, unwanted personnel.”

“Like you overthrow the old regime, you see, and you throw them through a good, stiff implant that mixes them up so they can’t tell north from west and you throw them into an ice cube capsule of some kind or another. And what do you do with them? Well, the primary threat to a system is the strength of a thetan. That’s the primary threat in the view of some very aberrated character. He thinks the main danger in the planet, or main danger in the system or the galaxy, or so forth, is a free thetan.”

“In other words, these people are - have overts so they try to protect themselves from the vengeance of a free thetan and they compound the possibility and the potentiality of this particular universe as a trap, and they make these people very thoroughly trapped. Well, they dump them.”

“So this particular system got dumping, and the Marcab Confederacy and some of the other stars around here just got a terrific concentration of people being dumped from the center of the hub, you know. They don’t want to go over to the next galaxy, so they just take it out to the edge of the city, you know.

All right. And this is close enough to other galaxies that ambitious characters over there trying to get rid of people out of their galaxies and systems, and so forth, would also use these rim stars.”

The Marcabians then dramatized this “solution” and used Earth as a dumping ground and prison for thetans they could not police. Naturally, they first implanted the thetans sentenced to Earth to give them amnesia and false data and false purposes.

 
LRH tape lecture on 6 August 1963 Auditing Comm Cycles:

“This planet is part of a larger federation - was part of an earlier federation and passed out of its control due to losses in war and other such things. Now, this larger confederacy - this isn’t its right name, but we have often called it and referred to it in the past as the Marcab Confederacy. And it has been wrongly or rightly pointed to as one of the tail stars of the Big Dipper, which is the capital planet of which this planet is.”

“You find a type of mental implanting and that sort of thing going on here in the last couple of hundred thousand years which are not native to your earlier track.”

“Probably the best way to hide your overts is to give somebody amnesia, you see (then they don’t know what you’ve done to them), and then tell them something else has happened. Well, this is a dramatization of a very craven intelligence, and that is what is going on here.”“Now, the fellow who conforms to that society is in no vast trouble.”

“So this leaves the brilliant artist, the brilliant engineer, the manager, the genius, the criminal, the pervert, non persona grata.

And they sentence these people - the upper class (that is to say the brighter gent) because they can’t control him and they’re afraid of him, and the lower class because its too vicious even for them - and they condemn these people to perpetual amnesia. “Dead forever,” they call it - the problem of killing a thetan - and wrap them up in mothballs and ship them down here, and here we are. And that is the population of this planet.”

 
Statements made by Ron in 1952 in the book The History of Man -

“A theta being can be made visible by certain electronic flows; he can be pinned down by certain flows. The wave lengths of these flows are not known to homo sapiens at this time and methods of emission of them have not been invented on Earth.”

“A thetan is somewhat bound-in here on Earth because of the existence of other system forces.”

 
LRH lecture 30 October 1952 The Role of Earth -

“But completely aside from that fact, Earth has been used consistently as a prison; and it is a prison, and it is heavily screened. There are installations in Mongolia, there are installations in the Pyrenees here on Earth, and there are installations down in the Mountains of the Moon in Africa which pick up, very often, people on death.”

You see this same dramatization taking place on Earth, such as England using Australia as a remote dumping ground and prison to rid itself of criminals. Also, the Marcabians have maintained personnel and front groups on Earth to continue to control thetans on this planet with electronic implanting and other evil means.The Gatekeepers and their assistants monitor and influence activities in hell by various means. And not too surprisingly, some Marcabians knowingly forward and assist the Gatekeepers in this - for example, by monitoring and influencing activities on Earth in accordance with the larger “plan”.

Thus the Existing Scene for the thetans inhabiting bodies on Earth is that they are on a prison planet in a prison universe.

But, the trapped thetan has his own cause in his trapped condition. No thetan can be trapped without his agreement and cooperation to be trapped. And the thetans in this universe (Hell) have degraded themselves down to a point where they are actively trapping themselves and others. This condition can be remedied with correct application of Scientology.

Correct Application of Scientology results in these States:

Scientology is the Bridge to Total Freedom for all thetans.

Total Freedom is choice to play a game or not play a game - the thetan has recovered his ability to enter or leave any universe at will by his own choice. Now we can understand and appreciate the statement - “Scientology is here to rescue you.”

We have here a chance to rescue ourselves from any and all prisons or traps, whether it be this planet, this galaxy or this part of the physical universe (called Hell). This necessarily includes any self-imposed traps by handling the dramatization to keep self trapped. We also have an opportunity to address and handle the dramatization and “solution” by some, of implanting and imprisoning thetans.

 
HCOPL 7 February 1965 Keeping Scientology Working:”We’re not playing some minor game in Scientology.”

“This is a deadly serious activity. And if we miss getting out of the trap now, we may never again have another chance.”

LRH lecture 6 December 1966 Scientology Definitions II -

“But you find out that down through the ages that SPs have had a ball. Now, for the first time in known history, there’s a thing called ethics. You can’t lie in order to do people in; that is the motto of ethics.

But this universe began to go to pieces and got formed actually on suppression and nothing else but. And all these ages we all been waiting around and ruing the day that we didn’t act when we could act. And we’re not going to spoil that chance, once you get another chance. Could be a perfectly good universe. It didn’t have to be a suppressive-formed universe. It could be a perfectly happy, good universe.

But ethics would have had to have gone in very early. And because every thetan was an individual acting on his own and suppression was organized, all we have to do is reverse it so that thetans, without foregoing their independence, yet operate on their own - and organize the other side just a little bit, because actually it’s very easy to beat a suppressive organization.

They’re being-you see, they’re busier because their percentages are out. There’s 80 percent who aren’t. So that at once gives you numerical superiority. Furthermore, they can’t think straight. And you can just go down the list on the number of counts with which they’d win. And I’d put my money any day of the week on the game that is now moving up to knock out the game that wasn’t a game - any day of the week - because the majority usually has an advantage over the minority. On that principle you’ll find out many fights get resolved very suddenly.”

“Now, an organized minority is all that has been making this universe a mess.”

“So anyway, never forget that you were very lonely on the track for a very, very long time, and the opposition seemed fantastically hard to dent; seemed very, very rough. And it’s been a very rough universe, that’s for sure. But the weather vane has turned and the wind is blowing in the opposite direction, and the opposition don’t like it. They are not sending for whom to find the bell tolls - they know it’s for them! We actually have no overt intentions toward them whatsoever.”

“But we do have a thing called ethics, and ethics happens to be out in this universe.”

“So, we at the moment are numerically in the universe, a minority, that is for sure. We are a minority. But we intend to live decent lives and forward decent programs and go ahead along our way as straight as possible without getting knocked out of line by suppressives. And that will eventually result in, I’m afraid, an organized majority.”

HCOPL 4 December 1966 Theory of Policy

“The ultimate product of Scientology is a universe that is decent and happy to live in, not degenerated and made miserable by suppressives as it has been.”

The subject of Scientology handles the Universal and Planetary Existing Scene in 2 ways:

1. Rehabilitation of individual thetans back up the tone scale to total freedom.
2. Organizing the decent thetans into a group that will handle the suppression stemming from a minority of insane thetans.

The Price of Freedom is - constant alertness and willingness to fight back.

One thing to know about the Price of Freedom is that it is a price. You pay the price to get freedom.

And Ron established a group on Earth that you can join to pay the Price of Freedom - the HASI.
